Commissioned by Buckeye Sports Supply in Ohio, this distributor-exclusive Blackhawk stands out for its limited production and clear identifying marks. The buckeye leaf-and-nut emblem engraved on the topstrap is factory-applied and unique to this model, making it easy to distinguish among New Model Blackhawks.
Built in 1990 in the United States, it follows the proven New Model Blackhawk pattern: single-action only operation with an external hammer and Ruger’s transfer-bar safety. The revolver holds six rounds and wears a classic blued finish complemented by a brushed steel cylinder.
The 6.5-inch barrel and adjustable iron sights support precise shooting. A ramped front blade pairs with a fully adjustable rear sight, offering a clear sight picture. Smooth hardwood grips with Ruger medallions complete the traditional presentation.
This Buckeye Sports Special was produced by the factory as a convertible pairing in .38-40 Winchester and 10mm Auto, a hallmark feature of this limited edition. The combination, together with the engraved topstrap and defined production window, gives this New Model Blackhawk a distinct place within Ruger’s late-1980s lineup.
