Ilion production details are confirmed by the barrel rollmark and the Remington two-letter code "RO," which corresponds to November 2020. The MR-prefix serial further aligns this rifle with the Ilion/Remington manufacturing period.
The rifle uses a solid-top, side-eject receiver that is drilled and tapped at the factory, with four filler screws installed. A cross-bolt safety and a standard-size lever provide the familiar 1895 handling and controls, all in a durable blued finish.
Factory iron sights include a ramped bead front sight without a hood and a semi-buckhorn rear sight with a step elevator, giving a straightforward and rugged sighting setup appropriate for the cartridge.
The walnut stock has a straight grip with cut checkering, a ventilated recoil pad, and sling swivel studs. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches, offering a compact, quick-handling feel with .45-70 power.
Inside the 18.5-inch barrel, Ballard-type rifling with six grooves and a 1:20 twist supports traditional .45-70 loads. Additional markings include a 2D/QR-style mark near the serial and the Ilion, New York barrel rollmark.
