This Compact model is the U.S.-made version of the M&P22 line, distinct from the earlier German-made full-size. Its reduced size and 10+1 capacity make it an easy-handling rimfire built around the M&P profile and controls.
The aluminum-alloy slide runs over a carbon-steel fixed barrel for consistent alignment and dependable blowback operation. An internal hammer drives the single-action system, and the hinged trigger incorporates an integrated safety.
Sighting is straightforward and precise with a 3-dot setup: a white-dot front and a white 2-dot rear that is screw-adjustable for both windage and elevation. The slide’s rear serrations use a wavy profile for positive manipulation, and the black polymer frame carries textured grip panels.
An integral Picatinny-style accessory rail with multiple cross-slots supports common lights or lasers. Smith & Wesson notes that this model should not be dry-fired. Barrel length is 3.56 in, and the pistol includes two factory 10-round magazines.
