Built by Vector Arms in the United States, the V89-40 is configured in the MP5/40 pattern and operates via a roller-delayed blowback action. It features a stamped-steel receiver with integral claw-mount pads and a pistol endcap without a rear sling swivel and with a push-pin interface. The 8.9-inch barrel is chambered in .40 S&W.
The muzzle provides dual interfaces, offering both the HK tri-lug and external threading for flexible muzzle device attachment. Sighting is handled by the proven diopter system, with a hooded front post and rotary drum rear.
Controls and handling mirror the familiar HK layout. It has a non-reciprocating, left-side forward charging handle with a cocking-tube notch and a 2-position S/F selector present on both sides. The pistol wears a slimline polymer HK-style handguard and a polymer SEF-style trigger housing and pistol grip.
This example includes a factory test target dated 10/16/2010 documenting the model and matching serial, plus an H&K MP5 family operator's manual. It ships with one German-made H&K 30-round polymer magazine and an installed Turner Fabrications .40 S&W magwell adapter. Capacity is 30+1 when using HK UMP .40 S&W magazines with the installed adapter (standard straight steel MP5/40 magazines will not lock in), where legal.
