This VEPR FM-AK47-11 is built on a stamped steel receiver reinforced with the RPK-pattern heavier receiver and trunnion design. It is chambered in 7.62x39 and operates via a semi-automatic, long-stroke gas piston system. The rifle accepts detachable AK-pattern magazines, with a stated capacity of 30+1.
The 16.5-inch barrel uses a 90-degree gas block and a threaded muzzle capped by a thread protector secured with a detent plunger. The receiver includes a left-side AK-pattern optics/accessory rail, providing a standard mounting interface on the platform without altering the rifle's profile.
Sighting equipment consists of a protected (hooded) front post and an RPK-style tangent rear sight with a windage drum. The rear sight elevation scale is marked 1–10 for quick reference. Controls include a manual safety selector in the traditional AK location.
The rifle wears black polymer furniture: a fixed stock with a ribbed steel trapdoor buttplate and right-rear sling swivel, ribbed polymer handguards, and a black polymer pistol grip with molded checkering. The stock body is molded with "US." The finish is black throughout. No cleaning rod is installed. Made in Russia; U.S. imports of Russian-made VEPR rifles ceased in 2017.
