This 3rd Generation Signature Series revolver faithfully reflects the Model 1861 Navy pattern, including the open-top frame and creeping (ratchet) loading lever. The six-shot steel cylinder is non-rebated and roll-engraved with the naval battle scene and the "ENGAGED 16 MAY 1843" legend.
Finish and materials are period-correct: a high-polish blued steel barrel and cylinder complemented by a color case-hardened frame, hammer, and loading lever. The steel trigger guard and backstrap pair with a one-piece varnished walnut grip.
Markings include "36 CAL," "COLTS/PATENT" on the frame, and "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA." on the barrel. The backstrap bears the Signature Series script "Sam Colt" rollmark, identifying it as part of Colt Blackpowder Arms Co.'s Signature Series production.
Functional features include single-action, cap-and-ball percussion operation; fixed sights with a small front blade and a hammer nose rear notch; and a six-round cylinder. Matching serial markings are present on the barrel lug, frame, and trigger guard; the butt/backstrap is stamped "568" rather than the expected "562" abbreviated number for serial 44562.
