The Rhino 40DS is a DA/SA revolver with an external cocking lever that actuates an internal hammer. A pop-up indicator provides clear status when cocked for single-action fire. The downward-press cylinder-release lever, swing-out cylinder, and a short, crane-mounted ejector rod (ending at the front of the cylinder window) support efficient loading and ejection.
The 4-inch steel barrel resides within a ventilated shroud featuring lightening cuts, paired with a faceted steel cylinder for a distinctive profile. An integral lower MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail on the shroud offers mounting flexibility for lights or other compatible accessories.
Sighting is fast and clear with a red fiber-optic front blade and a fully adjustable fiber-optic rear sight using two green rods. The grip panels are walnut with an engraved Rhino logo, providing a secure hold and a classic look.
The frame is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum alloy and finished in matte black anodizing, while the cylinder is steel with a black finish. The revolver carries CIP "N" proof marks on the cylinder and frame and a Chiappa Firearms, Dayton, OH import mark. It is part of the Rhino series and uses a 1:19 twist rate.
