Built on a 1944 Springfield Armory receiver and fitted with a January 1952 barrel, this rifle aligns with the Korean War era M1D program. The combination reflects an arsenal rebuild and conversion timeline typical of post-war upgrades.
The M1D configuration uses a barrel-mounted base and clamp to carry an offset optic, preserving use of the standard iron sights. This example retains the aperture rear sight with elevation and windage knobs and the wing-protected front blade on the gas cylinder.
Stock and handguards are oil-finished walnut, complemented by a leather lace-on cheek pad appropriate for the offset scope position. The buttplate includes a trapdoor for cleaning kit storage, and the gas cylinder integrates a bayonet lug.
The rifle is parkerized throughout, with a steel receiver and M1-pattern furniture. The optic is a U.S. sniper-style scope with 2.2x magnification, a top adjustment turret, and a sliding sunshade; the tube bears stamped markings and a serial on the body.
Chambered in .30-06 and operating via a gas-operated, rotating-bolt action, the platform uses 8-round en-bloc clips. Length of pull is 13.0 inches, and the barrel measures 24 inches.
