As a first-generation Python, this revolver represents Colt's original production period with hand-fitted V-spring lockwork and the hallmark smooth double-action/single-action system. The AL-prefix serial range is consistent with 1980 manufacture, aligning with the period's fit, finish, and rollmarks.
The carbon steel construction and high-polish blued finish extend across the frame, cylinder, and receiver. The 6-inch barrel features the classic ventilated rib with three rectangular lightening slots per side near the muzzle and a full-length underlug.
Sighting is handled by a ramped front sight and a fully adjustable square-notch rear sight. Control surfaces include an exposed wide, checkered hammer spur and the standard Colt push-to-the-rear cylinder latch. The six-shot fluted cylinder uses a knurled ejector-rod tip for positive ejection.
This Python is chambered in .357 Magnum and also accepts .38 Special, with a capacity of six rounds. It wears black wraparound rubber grips with gold Colt medallions, and it carries the Colt rampant colt logo rollmark on the frame.
