The Axis action uses a right-hand bolt with an oval ejection port and a floating bolt head with two opposed locking lugs. It employs a push-feed system with a plunger ejector and a sliding extractor, delivering smooth cycling with standard operation.
The rifle features a 22-inch steel sporter barrel with a matte finish and an unthreaded muzzle. The steel receiver matches in matte black and is drilled and tapped. The SAVAGE wordmark is laser-etched on the polished bolt body and visible through the ejection port; the receiver’s port face is unmarked.
