Built by FÉG in Hungary, this 48M is the M44-pattern Mosin-Nagant carbine configured with a 20.25-inch barrel and chambered for 7.62x54R. It has been converted to a non-firing replica with a welded receiver–barrel shank and a chamber plug.
The carbine carries desirable Hungarian markings: the '02' FÉG manufacturer code on the barrel shank, a 1952 date stamp on the receiver, and the Hungarian state crest. A round stock cartouche is present, and matching serials were observed.
Correct M44-pattern hardware is retained, including the integral side-folding cruciform spike bayonet, two barrel bands with spring retainers, a full-length upper handguard, and an under-barrel cleaning rod. Sighting is by a hooded front post and a tangent rear sight with a sliding elevation cursor.
The hardwood stock features metal-lined sling slots and a steel buttplate. The bolt-action configuration uses a straight bolt handle with a round knob and a cocking knob safety. Length of pull is 13.5 inches, and the receiver is steel.
