The 30 in Steelium Optimabore HP barrels use Beretta's Excelsior H.S.A. Steel with extended forcing cones and an 18.6 mm bore for consistent patterns. The barrels feature a flat ventilated 10×8 mm top rib and ventilated side ribs with anti-glare checkering and a white front bead. The barrel set is marked "SPORTING 12 GA. 3 in 76–30" and is threaded for Optima-Choke HP choke tubes; no chokes are included.
The steel receiver is the heavier/wider 680-based design, approximately 55 g heavier for added stability. It wears a burnished/blued finish with orange "688" branding. Controls include a manual tang safety with barrel selector and a single-selective trigger with user-adjustable reach. This break-action over/under has a 2-round capacity and 3 in chambers.
Beretta's B-Fast system allows precise adjustment of comb height, drop, cast, and rotation. The black/gray laminated wood stock incorporates a B-Fast adjustable comb, a very slight right-hand palm swell, and slight right-hand cast-off for a right-handed mount. A MicroCore recoil pad and fine checkering complete the stock setup. Length of pull measures 13.75 in.
Construction and markings are consistent with current Beretta sporting models. Proofs and stamps include "BERETTA – GARDONE V.T. – MADE IN ITALY," "BERETTA USA CORP. ACCK, MD," "EXCELSIOR H.S.A. STEEL," and "18.6 HP OB." Country of origin is Italy, and the overall finish is blued/burnished steel with orange receiver accents.
