Produced in 1957, this revolver is a Second Generation example in the SA-suffix serial range. It reflects the Hartford-made update to Colt’s iconic SAA while retaining the hallmark features collectors expect.
It is chambered in .38 Special and fitted with a 5.5-inch steel barrel and a fluted six-shot steel cylinder. The action is single-action-only.
Sighting equipment is the traditional fixed setup, with a blade front and a topstrap rear notch. It uses Colt’s standard spring-loaded push-button crossbolt base pin latch, and the ejector rod housing is on the right side with a small round button/dome (“bullseye”) head with circular serrations.
Markings include the left-side barrel rollmark "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38 SPECIAL," the top barrel address "COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT.
U.S.A.," and two-line patent dates with the Rampant Colt on the left frame. The revolver wears the factory-style finish combination of a color case-hardened frame and hammer with a blued barrel and cylinder, complemented by black checkered hard-rubber grips with a molded Rampant Colt in an oval.
