This 340PD follows the J-Frame Centennial pattern with an internal (enclosed) hammer and double-action-only operation. The scandium alloy frame wears a black finish, while the titanium cylinder is left in a matte light gray. Together, these materials keep weight low while preserving the revolver’s five-shot .357 Magnum capability.
The two-piece barrel design uses a stainless steel liner within a 1.875-inch sleeve. The barrel is marked "NO LESS THAN 120 GR BULLET." Fixed sights include a pinned green fiber-optic front blade and a topstrap gutter rear, providing a bright front index with a low-profile rear channel.
Factory details include the internal lock, model marking on the yoke/crane, serial markings on the butt and yoke/crane, and the "SPFLD, MA S&W U.S.A." rollmark. Capacity is five rounds. Country of origin is the United States.
