The Mosquito Standard delivers the familiar ergonomics and controls of the P226 platform in a reduced, 90% scale .22 LR format. Its DA/SA blowback action pairs with an external spur hammer and a decocker, providing versatile trigger control and straightforward handling.
The sighting system uses a three-dot contrast setup with a windage-adjustable rear. The front blade features a single yellow dot and interchangeable height inserts to fine-tune point of impact. This setup supports precise alignment with simple adjustments.
Built with a polymer frame and an aluminum-zinc alloy slide, the pistol retains a fixed steel barrel for consistent alignment. Safety features include an ambidextrous manual safety, a decocker, a magazine disconnect safety, and an integral key lock.
Manufactured in Germany, this example carries German proof marks and a MADE IN GERMANY marking, along with the SIG SAUER INC EXETER – NH import stamp. The multi-slot accessory rail on the dustcover accepts standard rail-mounted accessories, and the included single-column steel magazine provides a 10+1 capacity.
The Mosquito line has since been discontinued, and its design lineage continued under GSG as the FireFly, underscoring the model’s enduring appeal as a .22 LR trainer with P-series ergonomics. Matching serial markings on the frame and barrel hood add to the completeness of this particular pistol.
