This Apache Black variant combines a bright chrome-plated steel barrel and receiver cover with a high-gloss black Zytel nylon (DuPont Nylon 101) frame and stock. Molded checkering, a white diamond fore-end inlay, and white line spacers on the fore-end cap and buttplate give it the distinct AB look while keeping weight to about 4 lb.
It uses a semi-automatic blowback action with a right-side, reciprocating charging handle and right-side ejection. The rifle feeds from a buttstock-loading tubular magazine, providing a 14+1 capacity in .22 LR. The length of pull is 13.5 in, overall length is approximately 38.5 in, and the barrel measures 19.5 in.
Sighting options are versatile. Iron sights include a ramped front and a folding rear leaf with an elevator. The stamped steel receiver cover is grooved with 3/8 in rimfire dovetails, and this rifle comes fitted with a Tasco RF3-7x20 variable rimfire scope using tip-off rings. The RF3-7x20 scope delivers 3–7x magnification.
Markings and configuration match later production traits: the barrel is marked "Remington 22 L.R. ONLY," and the serial number is placed on the left side of the receiver cover (post-1968 placement). A buttstock-access port supports quick loading of the tubular magazine, and sling swivel studs are factory-style features that pair with the included black web sling.
