This Marlin Model 55 Goose Gun is a classic pre-1968 bolt-action 12 gauge built for long-barrel performance. It features a 36" plain round barrel with a single front bead, a 3" magnum chamber roll-marked on the shank, and a clean, mirror-bright bore. The shotgun wears an uncheckered walnut stock with a ventilated recoil pad and shows the JM oval proof mark on the barrel.

The Goose Gun configuration is identified by the long 36" plain round barrel and the left-side roll mark reading 'MARLIN GOOSE GUN 3 INCH MAGNUM CHAMBER.' It uses a simple front bead sight and no rib, providing an uncluttered sight picture.
This example is configured for single-shot loading through the ejection port, with no detachable magazine shown. Capacity is 1 round.
The one-piece walnut stock has an uncheckered, pistol-grip profile and a ventilated orange rubber recoil pad with a thin black spacer. A white/nylon fore-end sling-swivel bushing (escutcheon) is present, but the sling-swivel stud itself is not installed. Length of pull measures 14 inches.
Manufactured in the United States prior to 1968, it carries the JM oval proof mark on the barrel and falls under the pre-1968 serial-number exemption.
