This 2nd Generation Colt faithfully follows the Whitneyville-Hartford Transition pattern, combining a 7.5 inch barrel with a six-shot, unfluted cylinder and fixed sights. It is a cap-and-ball percussion revolver in .44 caliber with single-action operation.
Factory finishes and materials include a color case-hardened frame, hammer, and loading lever, plus a polished blue/black barrel and cylinder. A one-piece high-gloss walnut grip, brass square-back trigger guard, and bright-finished backstrap round out the period-correct configuration.
The cylinder carries the Ormsby roll-engraved Texas Ranger and Indian Fight scene. The barrel top is addressed "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY." It uses an under-barrel loading lever with a nose latch, and the right-side wedge features a retaining screw, as expected for this pattern. Sights are a front blade and a rear hammer-notch.
As a Colt Blackpowder Series 2nd Generation reproduction made in the United States, it shows the factory roll-engraved cylinder scene and markings associated with this series. Multiple major components exhibit B-suffix serial markings typical of the line. This example includes the original Colt Blackpowder Series box and manual.
