As a pre-1989 import, this Type 56S "Spiker" retains hallmark features including the integral under-folding spike bayonet, bayonet lug, and a threaded muzzle. The receiver is import-marked "IMPORTER F.T.C. WOODLAND HILLS, CA" and "MADE IN CHINA," placing it squarely within the desirable 1984–1989 import window.
The rifle uses a stamped steel receiver with magazine well dimples and the standard AK long-stroke gas system. Controls include a paddle-style magazine release and a right-side manual safety lever. It is chambered in 7.62x39 and feeds from detachable double-stack AK-pattern magazines with a 30+1 capacity.
The 16.3-inch barrel is threaded at the muzzle and currently fitted with an aftermarket multi-ported brake. Iron sights consist of an open-ear front post and a tangent rear sight with a sliding leaf, providing a classic and functional sighting system.
This example has been customized. The original underfolding buttstock was cut and the rifle now wears a black synthetic Dragunov/SVD-style skeletonized fixed stock with a separate pistol-grip profile and a 15.0-inch length of pull, along with ventilated synthetic handguards. An aftermarket scope rail is secured to the dust cover, and a Norinco riflescope with rings is included.
