The sporter configuration centers on a 24-inch round barrel with a matted anti-glare panel. No rear sight is installed. The fore-end has been shortened and capped with a rounded metal nosecap, and the original military handguard and rear sight are not present.

The receiver is drilled and tapped with two holes on the front ring and two on the bridge for a scope base. A one-piece base with mounting screws is included, and a Weaver scope is provided but not mounted, allowing the buyer to install to preference.

Chambered in .30-40 Krag, this bolt-action retains the Krag’s distinctive right-side magazine with a hinged loading gate and an integral 5-round capacity. The rifle was produced at Springfield Armory in the United States, with the receiver falling into the FY1901 production range.
