This custom Ruger 10/22 Magnum stands out as a rare, purpose-built .17 HMR conversion on Ruger's steel 10/22 Magnum receiver. It features a 20-inch heavy bull barrel with a recessed crown, an optics-only configuration, and a Boyds laminated right-hand thumbhole target stock. The receiver is a 290-series example that aligns with the 2004 shipment window and uses the unique heavier-bolt design specific to the magnum line.
Converted to .17 HMR using a .17 HMR barrel on a Ruger 10/22 Magnum (.22 WMR) receiver, this rifle is set up as a single-shot for focused precision work. The 10/22 Magnum receiver includes integral Ruger scope-ring bases, and 1-inch Ruger rings are installed. The receiver markings read "RUGER" and "MODEL 10/22 CARBINE .22 WIN. MAG. R.F." and the finish is matte blued/black.
The 20-inch bull barrel is unthreaded, unfluted, and carries a recessed target crown. There are no iron sights, making this an optic-only setup. The free-floated barrel channel in the stock complements the heavy-barrel configuration.
The stock is a Boyds laminated hardwood right-hand thumbhole target design with a rollover cheekpiece and a Boyds-branded rubber buttpad. Length of pull measures 13.75 inches. The cross-bolt safety and semi-automatic blowback platform remain, while the rifle is configured to operate as a single-shot in its current setup.
