The Cub is built around a fixed 2.25 in barrel and a single-action blowback system, offering dependable operation in a compact footprint. Field stripping is straightforward, with the fixed barrel retained by a quarter-turn for quick maintenance.
Its micro size makes it notably trim at approximately 4.4 in overall length and about 12.7 oz unloaded. The single-column detachable magazine is rated for 6+1, and a checkered button magazine catch sits at the lower rear of the left grip panel.
Controls and sights are simple and practical: rear-only slide serrations, a right-side ejection port, and fixed sights with an integral front blade and a rear notch. The external hammer has a rounded spur with a lightening hole.
Safety features include a manual thumb safety, a magazine disconnect safety, and a half-cock notch. Marked "Made in Spain," this design was widely exported and was also sold in the U.S. as the Colt Junior prior to 1968 import restrictions.
