Built on the robust S&W X-Frame, this Model 500 pairs a stainless steel frame and cylinder with an 8.375 inch full-underlug barrel. The two-piece, tensioned barrel system and matte rib along the top contribute to a rigid, purpose-built configuration with clean sighting references.
The five-shot fluted stainless cylinder is chambered for .500 S&W Magnum and also accepts .500 S&W Special. The revolver uses a double-action/single-action system and includes an external hammer with a serrated spur for positive manipulation.
Sights are set up for precise adjustment, with a red/orange fiber-optic front and a fully adjustable square-notch rear. Black one-piece rubber finger-groove grip with a molded S&W logo (no metal medallions) provides a secure, hand-filling hold.
An interchangeable muzzle compensator/brake is secured by a front locking screw, and a spare compensator is included. The revolver incorporates S&W’s internal lock, with the keyhole positioned above the cylinder release.
