The Model 88 combines lever-action operation with a rotating, front-locking, three-lug bolt and a short-throw lever. This hammerless design includes a trigger and guard that move with the lever. It feeds from a detachable box magazine with a 4+1 capacity, making it a distinctive Winchester repeater chambered in .308 Win.
This rifle-length configuration uses a 22 in barrel made of Winchester Proof Steel. Winchester oval WP proof marks are present on the barrel and receiver. The factory receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting, aligning with the scoped setup included here.
