The Model 85 is a small-frame snub-nose revolver built on steel, with a blued finish on the frame, cylinder, and barrel. It is chambered in .38 Spl. and uses a 5-shot cylinder, offering a traditional compact profile with a 2-inch barrel.
Its action is double-action/single-action with an exposed spurred hammer, a smooth-faced trigger, and a transfer bar safety system. The barrel uses a half-lug profile with an ejector-rod shroud, and the ejector-rod tip is knurled for positive manipulation.
Sighting is straightforward with a fixed gutter rear milled into the topstrap and a serrated ramp front sight. The revolver is fitted with a one-piece black rubber finger-groove grip bearing the Taurus medallion for a secure in-hand feel.
Factory and import markings include the TAURUS crest on the left frame, a TAURUS - BRASIL rollmark on the left barrel, TAURUS INT.
