Colt AR-15 SP1 .223 Rem Pre-Ban 20 in Rifle (1982) — Slick-Side A1 Upper, Triangular Handguards, Chrome-Lined Bore
This 1982 Colt AR-15 Model SP1 is a pre-ban, collector-grade example with classic early features. It uses the slick-side A1-style upper without forward assist or brass deflector, a slab-side lower, and the lightweight 20-inch chrome-lined pencil barrel. The rifle retains its fixed carry handle, triangular handguards, and fixed stock with trapdoor buttplate, capturing the original AR-15 configuration. The barrel is marked "C MP CHROME BORE," and the rifle remains in very good condition with an excellent bore.

What's Included
- Colt AR-15 Model SP1 rifle
- 1x 20-round USGI-pattern aluminum straight-body magazine
Manufactured in 1982, this SP1 qualifies as a pre-1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban rifle. It preserves the early Colt AR-15 profile with a slick-side A1-style upper (no forward assist, no brass deflector) and a slab-side lower without a magazine fence, anchored by the large two-screw front pivot.
The 20-inch lightweight/pencil-profile barrel is chrome-lined and capped with an A1 birdcage flash hider. The barrel carries the "C MP CHROME BORE" marking, consistent with Colt production of the era. The muzzle is threaded, and the rifle retains its bayonet lug and round slip ring.
Sighting equipment is the correct A1 pattern: an A1 front sight base with adjustable post paired with an A1 carry-handle rear sight with windage drum. The furniture includes triangular rifle handguards, an A1 pistol grip, and a fixed stock with a trapdoor and checkered buttplate. Front and rear sling swivels are present.
The rifle operates via a semi-automatic, direct-impingement system and is chambered in .223 Rem. Capacity is 20+1 with the included magazine. Controls include a manual safety. Receivers are aluminum alloy, with polymer furniture, and the length of pull measures 13.0 inches.
