The M5S series pairs Colt’s forged aluminum receivers with a true free-float M-LOK handguard that interfaces to the upper with anti-rotation features. A carbine-length gas system and a set-screw low-profile gas block support reliable function in this compact SBR format.
The 11.5 in chrome-lined chrome-moly-vanadium heavy barrel is HP/MPI tested and cut with a 1:7 RH twist for 5.56 NATO. The barrel is threaded and fitted with a factory muzzle device featuring three elongated ports.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the selector, magazine catch, and bolt catch/release, and the rifle ships with an ambidextrous extended charging handle. Furniture includes a 6-position Magpul CTR stock and an A2 polymer pistol grip.
Sight equipment consists of folding low-profile metal front and rear sights, and the continuous 12 o’clock Picatinny rail provides uninterrupted mounting space along the upper and handguard. Approximate overall length is 28.0–31.25 in with an unloaded weight around 6.3 lb. Capacity is 30+1.
