The M-100 feeds from a detachable, top-mounted helical magazine specifically designed for .22 LR. Capacity is 100+1, and the included magazine features a rear winding knob for tensioning.
Its operating system is simple blowback (not delayed blowback), paired with a right-side charging handle located beneath the magazine housing and a cross-bolt safety for straightforward controls.
The rifle uses a polymer ribbed handguard with circular ventilation holes over a 16-inch steel barrel, plus a conical finned muzzle attachment. The metal triangular front sight tower has an adjustable post and a hinged/strap-style front sling loop pinned under the muzzle/front sight assembly. Iron sights are standard.
The stock is a multi-link, side-folding, skeletonized steel unit with a solid metal buttplate. The pistol grip is polymer with horizontal serrations, and the receiver is polymer. Markings include "MADE IN U.S.A." and American Industries model "Calico M-100 .22LR."
