Remington Model 17 20 Gauge Pump-Action, Bottom-Eject Takedown, 26 Inch Barrel with Vent Rib and Poly-Choke, 4+1 Capacity
This Remington Model 17 is a U.S.-made, Browning/Pedersen-designed 20-gauge pump from the 1921–1933 production era. It features a 26 inch barrel originally marked FULL, now outfitted with an aftermarket ventilated rib and a Poly-Choke adjustable muzzle device. The bottom-eject, under-loading takedown design, four-round magazine (4+1), and uncheckered walnut furniture align with the model’s Standard Grade configuration and its influence on later Ithaca 37 and Browning BPS designs.

Designed by John Browning and John Pedersen, the Model 17 is a bottom-ejecting, under-loading takedown shotgun that set the pattern for later designs. Approximately 73,000 were produced from 1921 to 1933, and this example reflects that lineage with its classic 20-gauge configuration and U.S. manufacture.
The 26 inch barrel was originally marked FULL and now wears a Poly-Choke adjustable muzzle device. Poly Choke installed. An aftermarket ventilated rib with a front bead provides a clean sight picture along the barrel.
This hammerless pump runs a four-round tubular magazine for a 4+1 capacity and is chambered for both 2.5 inch and 2.75 inch 20-gauge shells. The bottom ejection and under-loading port are true to the Model 17’s hallmark operating system.
Furniture consists of uncheckered walnut consistent with Standard Grade, including a pistol-grip stock and corncob-style grooved fore-end. An aftermarket ventilated recoil pad with a white-line spacer is fitted, and the length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
