Built in 1977, this Model 70 represents the post-1964 push-feed configuration with an internal box magazine and a hinged floorplate for a 5-round capacity. The action runs a three-position wing safety and a polished bolt body with engine-turning (jeweling), reflecting Winchester’s production details of the era.
The 22 in barrel is marked "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL" and "MADE IN NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A." The receiver is drilled and tapped, and the rifle retains a ramped front sight as observed. The bore is excellent with a clean, mirror finish and sharp rifling.
The Monte Carlo walnut stock includes a cheekpiece and cut checkering, along with a black fore-end tip and grip cap, each with a white line spacer. Sling swivel studs and a Winchester-logo checkered buttplate are factory-style features. Length of pull measures 13.5 in.
A USA-made Weaver V9-W 3-9x scope with a crosshair reticle is mounted in Weaver USA rings on a one-piece base, providing a ready-to-use setup consistent with the rifle’s drilled-and-tapped receiver.
