This Model 4006 is a classic 3rd Generation Smith & Wesson design with an all-stainless steel frame, slide, and barrel in a matte stainless finish. Chambered in .40 S&W, the 4006 was among the first pistols engineered specifically for this cartridge and became widely issued by U.S. law enforcement agencies in the 1990s–2000s. This standard non-TSW configuration retains the original features that defined the model’s service reputation.
Controls include DA/SA operation with an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker featuring a red fire indicator dot, a magazine disconnect safety, and a spur hammer. The slide uses an external extractor, and the dust cover is clean without an accessory rail.
Ergonomics and handling are supported by a one-piece wraparound black synthetic (Xenoy) grip with S&W medallion, frontstrap checkering, a checkered front lip of the magazine well, and a square, flat-front trigger guard with vertical serrations.
