The CDS9 uses single-action operation with an external hammer and a flat-faced trigger. Safety features include an ambidextrous thumb safety, sear disconnect, firing-pin block, and a hammer safety notch. A left-side push-button magazine release supports quick magazine changes.
The 3 inch bull barrel is non-threaded and finished with a recessed crown. The model employs a dual recoil-spring assembly designed to manage the slide’s movement in a compact format. Its aluminum alloy frame keeps weight down while maintaining an all-metal construction, and the matte dark gray finish presents a low-glare profile.
The slide carries front and rear grasping serrations for added traction. A top plate with Kimber marking sits along the slide’s spine. Dovetailed steel sights include a front post with an orange insert marked TG-H3 and a plain black rear notch.
The double-column magazine system offers a stated maximum capacity of 15+1. Included 15-, 13-, and 10-round magazines with varied basepad heights allow the user to tailor grip length and concealment. Ergonomic touches include textured grip panels with a hex/frag pattern, textured frontstrap and backstrap, a beavertail, an undercut trigger guard, and a smooth dustcover.
