This 1987 Smith & Wesson Model 686-1 is a stainless L-frame .357 Magnum with a 6-inch heavy barrel and full underlug, set up with micrometer-adjustable rear and a ramp front sight with an orange/red insert. It carries the factory "M" recall modification overstamp in the yoke cut and features forged pre-MIM hammer and trigger components. Aftermarket stag/antler-style grips are installed, and the bore condition is excellent.

Built on the L-frame, the 686-1 combines stainless steel durability with a fluted six-shot cylinder and a satin/brushed finish. The 6-inch heavy-profile barrel with a full underlug and serrated rib provides a solid, sight-friendly top surface.
Sighting equipment includes a micrometer-adjustable rear with a white-outline blade and a ramped front sight carrying an orange/red insert. The action is double-action/single-action with a smooth-faced trigger and an exposed hammer featuring a checkered/serrated spur.
This -1 revision includes the L-frame lockwork updates associated with the change, namely the radius stud package and floating hand. It also has the factory "M" overstamp in the yoke cut indicating the recall modification was performed.
Forged pre-MIM hammer and trigger components are present. Rollmarks include the Smith & Wesson logo on the right frame, "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS.," "SMITH & WESSON" on the left side of the barrel, and "S.&W. .357 MAGNUM" on the right side of the barrel.
