Imported by KFS in the mid-1980s, this AKS-762 is a true pre-ban Poly Technologies rifle with period-correct markings: POLY TECH, INC., BEIJING, CHINA and IMPORTED BY KENG'S FIREARM SPECIALTY, ATLANTA, GA, plus model and caliber designations and the triangular Chinese arsenal symbol. The receiver is a stamped Type 56 pattern with magazine well dimples and a smooth top cover.
Known as the 'Spiker,' it retains the integral under-barrel folding spike bayonet. The front end shows hallmark Chinese features: a 45-degree gas block, a vented gas tube, and a hoodless/open-ear Type 56 front sight base with a post, paired with a tangent-leaf rear sight. The muzzle has external threads with a front sight base detent; no device is installed.
The rifle uses a semi-automatic, long-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt. The bolt carrier is left in-the-white, contrasting the blued/phosphate finish on the stamped steel receiver and other components. Barrel length is 16.3 in, and capacity is 30+1 with a standard magazine.
Furniture and layout are classic Type 56: a steel underfolding stock with a crutch-style butt, right-side hinge and latch, and a sling loop; a wood pistol grip; and two-piece wood handguards. Length of pull measures 12.5 in, offering the compact, folding configuration associated with this variant.
