The XD-9 Sub-Compact pairs a 3-inch steel barrel with a black polymer frame to deliver a compact, double-stack 9mm package. The barrel is hammer-forged and Melonite treated, while the slide provides front and rear cocking serrations and a loaded-chamber indicator. An integral accessory rail with one slot is molded into the dust cover.
Sight regulation is handled by fixed dovetailed steel sights, with a front blade that carries a white dot for quick alignment. A striker status indicator and the slide-mounted loaded-chamber indicator provide at-a-glance status checks.
The action is a striker-fired, short-recoil, locked-breech design. Controls include an ambidextrous magazine release. The XD safety suite includes a grip safety, trigger safety, internal striker block, loaded-chamber indicator, and striker status indicator.
Manufactured in Croatia by HS Produkt and marked "Springfield Inc., Geneseo IL USA / Made in Croatia," this pistol bears the Springfield Armory crossed-cannons crest on the slide. Matching serial markings appear on the barrel hood, slide (right side), and the frame’s embedded steel serial plate visible on the right side/underside of the dust cover. It uses a double-stack magazine system and comes with both a flush-fit 13-round magazine and an extended 16-round magazine. The slide has been drilled and tapped with three small screw holes at the rear top (non-factory).
