The V3 DA/SA system pairs a traditional double-action first shot with a single-action follow-up and includes a rear decocking button for safe decock without manipulating the trigger. Fully ambidextrous slide releases and an ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release support either hand. The extractor functions as a loaded-chamber indicator, and the pistol incorporates a firing pin block, drop safety, disconnector, and an internal lock-out device.
The 3.27-inch barrel is steel, cold hammer-forged, and features polygonal rifling with a 1:9.84 RH twist. The slide has front and rear serrations and wears HK's Hostile Environment nitrocarburized finish for durability. Sights are contrast-type: a dovetailed front post with a high-visibility dot and a notched rear.
Ergonomics are anchored by the modular P30 grip system, with interchangeable backstraps and side panels to tailor fit and control. A MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail with three slots supports compatible lights or accessories. Capacity is listed at 15+1, and this example includes two factory magazines (15-round and 13-round) to match that flexibility.
Markings and provenance details include 'Heckler & Koch GmbH – Made in Germany' with HKI – Columbus, GA import mark, DE proof mark, C.I.P. N nitro proof, and a two-letter date code "CD." The pistol operates via a short-recoil, modified Browning locked-breech system and uses an external spurred hammer.
