This commemorative Model 94 is configured as a classic top-eject carbine with a saddle ring, a 20-inch round Winchester Proof Steel barrel, and a full-length tubular magazine. Capacity is 6+1. The blued barrel contrasts with the factory gold-plated receiver and barrel bands, and the buttplate is gold-colored with checkering.
Engraving includes decorative scroll borders and the dates "1869" and "1969" flanking a spike on the receiver, with an inset underside plate engraved "OCEANS UNITED BY RAIL." The walnut straight-grip stock carries an inlaid medallion depicting the Promontory Summit ceremony, matching the commemorative theme.
Sighting equipment consists of a ramped front sight and a semi-buckhorn rear sight with an elevator. The right receiver wall is drilled and tapped for side mounting (three holes), maintaining period-correct Model 94 configuration while accommodating side-mount hardware if desired.
Barrel markings read "WINCHESTER — MODEL 94 30-30 WIN. — MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. — WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL" and "GOLDEN SPIKE COMMEMORATIVE," confirming the factory commemorative issue. This series used GS-prefix commemorative serial numbering specific to the Golden Spike run.
