The Rhino 30DS employs a low-bore-axis system that fires from the bottom (6 o'clock) chamber, a hallmark of the Rhino series. This configuration is paired with a double-action/single-action mechanism operated by an external cocking lever that returns forward after cocking, maintaining a consistent profile.
Construction is centered on durability and balance: an aluminum-alloy frame and receiver in chrome (hard chrome), with a steel barrel and a steel cylinder finished to match. The 3 inch barrel sits within a shroud that has two forward lightening/vent slots on each side, and the cylinder features a flat/hexagonal profile.
Sight acquisition is enhanced by a red/orange fiber-optic front sight and an adjustable rear with green fiber-optic elements. The black textured rubber one-piece grip with a palm swell provides a stable, hand-filling hold.
This revolver has a 6-shot cylinder and includes manufacturer and proof markings: CIP 'N' on the frame near the crane, Italian proofs on the cylinder, and Chiappa Firearms, Dayton, OH importer markings. The serial number is also stamped on the cylinder. Country of origin is Italy.
