The M&P FPC uses a semi-automatic, straight-blowback action with a cross-bolt safety. The 16.25 in 4140 steel barrel is threaded 1/2x28 for compatible muzzle devices, and a 1:10 twist supports common 9mm loads. The stainless-steel bolt and aluminum receiver tube pair with a polymer frame for durability and low weight.
Its side-folding barrel/handguard assembly reduces overall length to approximately 16 3/8 in when folded and about 30 3/8 in when unfolded. Because the optic and sights mount to the same continuous top Picatinny rail that moves with the assembly, point of aim is designed to stay consistent through folding.
Ergonomics include a fixed stock with integrated dual magazine carriers for fast access to spares, plus an M&P-pattern polymer pistol grip with interchangeable palmswell inserts (three included) for a tailored fit. The polymer M-LOK handguard offers attachment points for accessories, and an angled foregrip/hand stop is installed.
This carbine accepts double-stack M&P-series pistol magazines and ships with two 21-round and one 17-round magazine. The barrel is marked Maryville, Tennessee, USA.
