Sako AV Hunter 7mm Rem. Mag. Bolt-Action Rifle, 23" Blued, Walnut Monte Carlo Stock, Open Sights (Finland, 1980s)
This Finnish-made Sako AV Hunter pairs the long AV action with classic field features and factory iron sights in a magnum chambering. It has a 23" free-floated sporter barrel, a right-hand walnut Monte Carlo stock with cut checkering, and integral tapered dovetail scope mounting surfaces on a blued steel receiver. As part of the final evolution of Sako’s long Finnbear action before the L691 and Model 75, this rifle combines proven mechanics with refined details and strong collector interest.

What’s Included
- Sako AV Hunter 7mm Rem. Mag. bolt-action rifle
The AV series represents the last iteration of Sako’s long Finnbear action, preceding the L691 and Model 75. This example is chambered in 7mm Rem. Mag. with an internal 4-round box magazine and a hinged floorplate, delivering a combination of capacity and magnum performance in a traditional hunting configuration.
Its 23" steel barrel is free-floated with a sporter contour and comes in a factory iron-sight configuration that is less common on magnum-caliber Sako rifles. Sights include a hooded ramp front and an adjustable open rear, offering immediate usability without additional equipment.
The blued steel receiver features Sako’s integral tapered dovetail scope mounting surfaces with anti-glare checkering on the bridges. The bolt is an in-the-white two-lug design with a Sako-type extractor and a receiver-mounted blade ejector for smooth feeding and positive ejection.
The right-hand walnut Hunter stock has a Monte Carlo cheekpiece, cut checkering, a rubber buttpad with black spacer, sling-swivel studs, and a shadowline. Length of pull is 14.0". Finnish C.I.P. proof marks and its 1980s origin underscore the rifle’s quality and provenance.
