RG Industries RG 40 .38 Special DA/SA Revolver, 2-inch Barrel, Blued, 6-Shot, Miami-Marked (1970s–1980s)
This Miami-marked RG Industries RG 40 is a compact, double-action/single-action .38 Special revolver with a 2-inch steel barrel and a six-shot fluted cylinder. Built in the post-1968 GCA era, it combines a black-finished alloy frame with a blued steel barrel and cylinder, fixed sights, and a round-butt profile with brown marbled grips. Would make great for an everyday carry or home defense revolver.
The frame is a die-cast zinc alloy (ASTM AC41A) with a factory black painted/enamel finish, paired with a blued steel cylinder and barrel, offering a light, compact package. Fixed sights include a serrated ramped front blade and a square-notch rear integrated into the top strap for a clean, snag-resistant profile.
Controls are straightforward: an exposed hammer supports DA/SA operation, and the six-shot fluted cylinder uses a left-side push-button latch. An unshrouded ejector rod and model/caliber rollmarks on the frame and barrel provide classic revolver details from the period.
Brown marbled plastic grips feature molded checkering and RG medallions, complementing the round-butt frame for a hand-filling yet compact hold. The overall configuration reflects late 1970s–1980s RG Industries production in the United States.
