Product Description

1952 Marlin Model 39A .22 S/L/LR Lever-Action, 24 inch Barrel, Takedown, Ballard Rifling, Blued/Walnut, with Weaver 6x Scope and Side Mount (Uninstalled)

This 1952 Marlin Model 39A stands out for its pre-Micro-Groove (Ballard-style) rifling, classic takedown design, and 24 inch round barrel. It retains its blued steel and walnut construction, iron sights, and solid-top receiver without a cross-bolt safety. It also includes a period Weaver 6x steel-tube scope marked El Paso, Texas, and a side-mount base, both uninstalled.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The buttstock has a piece broken off at the end.

    What’s Included

    • Weaver 6x steel-tube scope (El Paso, Texas, USA), not installed
    • Side-mount base for scope, not installed

Built in 1952, this Model 39A features the desirable pre-Micro-Groove, Ballard-style rifling paired with a 24 inch round barrel and a full-length tubular magazine rated at 19+1 in .22 LR. It is chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle, offering flexibility with rimfire ammunition.

The rifle uses a lever-action mechanism in a takedown configuration secured by a large-head slotted takedown screw with a single straight coin slot (knurled circumference). This lets the rifle separate into two assemblies for transport and maintenance while maintaining the classic Marlin layout.

Construction is traditional: a blued steel, solid-top receiver and blued finish throughout, matched to a walnut pistol-grip buttstock with a molded "Marlin" hard-rubber buttplate and a walnut forearm. The receiver is drilled and tapped on the left side for a receiver/peep sight, and the design omits a cross-bolt safety.

Sighting equipment includes a ramped front sight and a semi-buckhorn rear sight with an elevator. For optics, a period-correct Weaver 6x steel-tube scope marked El Paso, Texas, and a compatible side-mount base are included but not installed, giving the buyer options for setup.
