This revolver is Uberti’s faithful reproduction of the S&W No. 3 Schofield, built as a full-size, single-action top-break with a 6-round cylinder. It is chambered as marked on the barrel rib for .38 Colt & S&W Special, with the cylinder face stamped “.38 SP.” The 7-inch steel barrel and top-break design integrate an automatic star extractor for simultaneous case ejection.
It wears a traditional sight setup: a fixed blade front on the barrel rib and a fixed rear notch integral to the top latch. The top latch doubles as the rear sight base, keeping the sight picture consistent with the original pattern.
The revolver is finished in blued steel, complemented by color case-hardened latch, hammer, and trigger guard. Two-piece smooth walnut grips carry a reproduction U.S. inspector cartouche marked “1877” over oval “D.B.”, and the buttstrap is stamped “U.S.” to mirror period markings.
Authentic roll-marks and proofs are present, including the barrel rib inscription “SCHOFIELD’S PAT’S JUNE 20TH 71. APR 22ND 73.” and caliber roll-mark “.38 COLT & S&W SPEC.” It bears Italian proof and inspection marks along with the Taylor’s & Co., Winchester VA import mark, confirming its origin and importation details.
