The Galil ACE SAR Gen 1 pistol configuration combines a robust milled-steel receiver with a proven long-stroke gas-piston, rotating-bolt system derived from the Kalashnikov. This setup is engineered for consistent cycling in a compact, 8.3-inch-barreled package chambered in 5.56x45 NATO.
Gen 1 features include the polymer tri-rail handguard with removable rail-cover panels, a full-length 1913 Picatinny top rail, and a 6 o'clock accessory rail. Controls are practical and familiar: a left-side reciprocating charging handle, an ambidextrous two-position safety, and a paddle-style magazine release. The pistol accepts AR-15/STANAG magazines and ships with a 30-round aluminum magazine by Center Industries.
The barrel uses a 1:7 twist suited for common 5.56 bullet weights and is fitted with an A2-pattern flash hider. Iron sights are factory-installed, with a fixed front post protected by ears and an adjustable rear aperture. The factory IWI/SB Tactical side-folding stabilizing brace completes the pistol configuration.
