Manufactured in 1992, this Sporter Match HBAR is a pre-1994 Assault Weapons Ban (pre-ban) configuration. It is the R6601 variant with a two-piece, screw-type front pivot pin and an A-frame front sight base with bayonet lug, details that align with Colt’s early-1990s Sporter production.
The 20-inch HBAR profile barrel uses a 1:7 twist and is threaded at the muzzle. The barrel is roll-marked "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 HBAR," and the "C MP" proof marks are present. The bore condition is excellent with sharp rifling, supporting the rifle’s strong internal condition.
It retains the classic A2 configuration: a fixed carry handle with an A2 rear sight drum, an A-frame front sight base with an integral sling swivel, and rifle-length, round ribbed A2 handguards. A round knurled delta ring secures the two-piece handguard set.
The rifle uses a semi-automatic, direct-impingement system with a rifle-length gas setup. The aluminum alloy receivers have an anodized finish, and the lower is marked "CAL. .223" while the barrel/chamber are 5.56 NATO. Furniture includes a fixed polymer stock with a trapdoor, checkered buttplate and a black polymer AR-15 pistol grip. Length of pull is 14.0 inches.
Capacity is 20+1 with the included magazine, and controls include a manual safety. This is a U.S.-made Colt AR-15 platform rifle from the early 1990s Sporter Match HBAR series, notable for its pre-ban status and correct period features.
