The AL 390 Silver Mallard Synthetic is built on Beretta's gas-operated, self-compensating system with an exhaust valve, designed to run a range of 12 gauge loads. It uses a magazine cut-off for easy unloading or single-loading, and feeds from a 2+1 capacity. The chamber is 3 in.
The 28 in barrel has a ventilated rib and uses Beretta's Mobilchoke screw-in system. This specimen includes two choke tubes: Full and Improved Cylinder. A knurled magazine cap is present; there is no front sling attachment at the forend/mag cap.
The aluminum alloy receiver is black anodized with silver-colored side panels and factory scroll engraving. Controls include a cross-bolt safety, a bolt release button positioned forward of the trigger guard, and a right-side charging handle. The trigger is gold-tone.
The synthetic stock and forend are black with molded checkering for grip. Length of pull is 14.75 in, and the stock includes a rear sling swivel. Receiver markings include "P. BERETTA – MADE IN ITALY, PATENTED."
