The SFAR is Ruger’s small-frame autoloading rifle built for 6.5 Creedmoor. This example uses forged 7075-T6 aluminum receivers with a hard-coat anodized finish and a forged upper that includes a forward assist, case deflector, and ejection-port cover. A continuous Picatinny top rail bridges the receiver and handguard.
The 20-inch cold hammer-forged barrel is nitrided for durability and features a 1:8 twist for 6.5 Creedmoor projectiles. It is threaded 5/8-24 and fitted with a multi-port muzzle brake. A rifle-length gas system works with a four-position regulated gas block that is accessible through the handguard window for user adjustment.
A 15-inch free-float aluminum handguard provides M-LOK attachment slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The rifle also includes Magpul furniture with a pistol grip and an adjustable carbine stock on a carbine receiver extension; length of pull is 14.5 inches.
Controls and internals are set up for confidence and consistency, with a direct-impingement action, a two-stage trigger, and a manual safety. Capacity is 20+1 with LR/SR-pattern magazines, and one 20-round PMAG is included.
