Made in the United States in 1947, this postwar commercial Colt Government Model is chambered in .38 Super and built on a steel frame and slide. It uses the short-recoil, locked-breech, single-action system associated with the platform and retains a 5-inch barrel with a 9+1 capacity.
The slide carries period-correct markings: the right side reads "COLT SUPER .38 AUTOMATIC" with the Rampant Colt, and the left side shows "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO.
HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." It features rear-only vertical serrations, an unlowered GI-pattern ejection port, and a recoil spring plug with a checkered disassembly pad.
M1911A1-style frame details include relief cuts behind the trigger, an arched mainspring housing with vertical serrations, a grip safety, and a short trigger. Controls are standard 1911 with a checkered magazine release, and the wide, checkered spur hammer matches the era-correct configuration.
