Product Description

Colt Police Positive Special Third Issue .38 Special Revolver, 4 Inch, Polished Blue (1977)

This 1977 Colt Police Positive Special Third Issue is a six-shot .38 Special DA/SA revolver with a 4 inch carbon steel barrel and a polished blue finish. Built on Colt's D-frame with V-spring lockwork and the Positive Lock internal hammer block, it represents the late post-war service configuration with fixed sights and a fluted cylinder. It includes a black leather duty belt holster.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: There is a large crack in the grips. There is minor finish loss on the cylinder and on the barrel near the muzzle.

    What’s Included

    • Black leather duty belt holster with thumb-break retention strap

The Third Issue configuration features fixed sights with an integral ramped front and a square-notch rear in the topstrap. The topstrap has longitudinal anti-glare serrations, and the cylinder latch is the Colt-style rearward-pull design. The ejector rod is unshrouded with a knurled tip for positive operation.

Construction is carbon steel throughout, with a polished blue finish on the frame, barrel, and fluted six-shot cylinder. It retains Colt's D-frame lockwork with a V-spring and a smooth double-action trigger pull. The revolver wears two-piece checkered wood service stocks without Colt medallions.

Chambered in .38 Special, this revolver was manufactured in the United States in 1977. The Positive Lock internal hammer block safety allows safe carry with all six chambers loaded. This late post-war Third Issue variant reflects the fixed-sight service revolver pattern widely used by mid-century U.S. police departments.
