The LCP II combines a compact footprint with a locked-breech, single-action, hammer-fired system for a light, consistent trigger. Its internal hammer design keeps the profile snag-resistant while maintaining reliable primer ignition.
The frame is glass-filled nylon (polymer) and is the serialized component with an embedded metal serial-number plate, keeping weight low. The slide wears a black finish and features diagonal front and rear serrations for confident manipulation.
Fixed, integral sights consist of a ramped front blade and square-notch rear. A trigger safety and a left-side magazine release are standard. The pistol holds open after the last round, a practical upgrade over earlier designs.
Chambered in .380 ACP, the LCP II uses 6-round single-stack magazines for a 6+1 capacity. Legacy 6-round LCP magazines will function but will not actuate the last-round hold-open. Ruger factory 7-round extended LCP magazines are compatible and generally function, but they do not actuate the last-round hold-open.
